Howard Harris

Howard Harris became Secretary-General of ISBEE in 2016. Howard first graduated as a chemical engineer and worked in the Pacific Islands in sugar mills and in management. He later worked for a large corporation in Australia in administration, corporate planning and in the oil and gas industry. After a time working in and with smaller businesses he returned to university and completed a PhD with a thesis on the role of courage in management decision making. He then spent 20 years in the School of Management at the University of South Australia in Adelaide, Australia. He was convenor of the Group for research in Integrity and Governance for two years. He has has spent two periods as a visiting scholar at the University of Cambridge and was President of the Australian Association for Professional and Applied Ethics in 2006-2008. He retired and took up an adjunct appointment in 2014. His particular interest is in the relevance of traditional virtues in contemporary management.
